Foreign exchange, banking facilities
The official currency in Germany is the Euro.
British Pounds, US Dollars, and other major currencies can be easily exchanged in local banks. Credit cards, such as Visa and Mastercard, are widely accepted in most hotels, restaurants, and shops, though keep some cash at hand, especially in smaller shops like bakeries or bistros. The use of American Express is not as common. Traveller’s Cheques are not recommended as they are often difficult to exchange and incur high fees.
Electrical systems
In Germany the power plugs and sockets are of type C and F. The standard voltage is 230 V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz.
Taxi
We recommend that attendees download Freenow, a mobility app that offers taxi rides in a timely and inexpensive manner.
